‘What Unites Us All’ premiere in Rio de Janeiro
The premiere of the documentary ‘What Unites Us All‘ will be held on 21 June in Rio de Janeiro as part of the
Rio+20 global conference. The documentary was produced by the Earth Condominium NGO and filmed entirely with aerial footage, highlighting the complex relations of consumption and provision of ecosystem services at local and global levels.
The event will take place at Espaço Arena da Barra and will be followed by a presentation on ‘A New Heritage for a New Economy’ and a debate session with the participants. It is a initiative of Portugal’s National Association of Nature Conservation (Quercus) and is co-organised with the Instituto de Investigación de Derecho Medio Ambiental de Madrid, the Faculty of Social and Human of Sciences of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and the Municipality of Gaia.
During the event, the Earth Condominium will also present specific proposals for Rio+20: (i) the recognition of the oceans and climate systems as Natural Intangible Heritage of Mankind; and (ii) the creation of a global legal body to assess the externalities of ecosystem services. Both proposals by the Earth Condominium are further explained here.
